A Space that Reflects Quality Values

The Badan Penjaminan Mutu (BPM) or Quality Assurance Office plays a vital role within Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta, responsible for maintaining and developing the university’s academic and administrative quality standards.
Accordingly, the design of this space goes beyond functionality—it aims to represent professionalism, order, and institutional transparency.

The interior is designed to create a clean, organized, and welcoming atmosphere — a space that visually communicates credibility while fostering productivity among its staff.

Design Concept: Openness within Defined Boundaries

The core concept of this office adopts the principle of “open yet defined.”
It balances spatial openness with functional clarity — allowing interaction while maintaining visual and operational boundaries.

The layout strategically arranges service counters, the head’s office, and staff work areas in a visually cohesive composition. Subtle height variations and furniture orientations define each zone without enclosing them with solid walls.

This design supports a dual circulation flow between public areas (for visitors and consultations) and internal work zones (for documentation and staff tasks).
The reception desk is positioned prominently near the entrance, ensuring accessibility and a sense of hospitality.
Meanwhile, the staff area benefits from generous natural lighting through large exterior windows, providing comfort and visual clarity throughout the workday.

Materials, Colors, and Atmosphere

The interior palette emphasizes light wood tones combined with clean white surfaces for walls and ceilings — producing a bright, soft, and professional look that reflects a modern yet approachable academic environment.

The use of purple accents in curtains and furniture details symbolizes the identity of Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta, while also adding a touch of warmth and institutional character.

Flooring is finished with neutral-colored homogenous tiles, chosen for durability, easy maintenance, and light reflectivity that enhances overall illumination.

Furniture Elements and Functionality

All furniture pieces are custom-designed to fit the specific dimensions and functions of the space.
Workstations are ergonomic, featuring integrated storage systems that maintain order and visual cleanliness.
A display cabinet along the wall showcases journals and institutional publications — serving as both a decorative and informational element that reinforces BPM’s academic mission.

Lighting design combines downlights and LED panels for uniform brightness, minimizing shadows and glare.
The ceiling features a clean gypsum drop-panel treatment, subtly concealing utilities while adding depth and refinement to the spatial composition.

Institutional Identity and Image

The BPM office serves as more than a workplace — it embodies the institution’s commitment to quality and transparency.
Its open-plan layout symbolizes collaboration across divisions, while the neat arrangement and color harmony express professionalism and trustworthiness.

Every element — from furniture alignment to lighting balance — contributes to a calm yet productive working atmosphere.
For visitors, the space instantly conveys a sense of order, openness, and reliability.

Conclusion: Building a Culture of Quality through Design

Through this design, the Quality Assurance Office of Universitas PGRI Yogyakarta reaffirms its dedication to cultivating a culture of excellence — not only through systems and documents, but through the very space in which those values are practiced.

The BPM interior design demonstrates how architecture and spatial design can embody institutional values, bridging functionality with identity and visual integrity.

Ultimately, the space stands as a reminder that quality is not only what an organization produces — it is also reflected in the spaces where it works, collaborates, and grows.
